Competitive Telecommunications Association (CompTel) CompTel is the leading association representing competitive telecommunications companies in virtually every sector of the marketplace: incumbent local exchange carriers, competitive local exchange carriers, long-distance carriers of every size, wireless service providers, Internet service providers, equipment manufacturers, and software suppliers. Our mission is to ensure the survival and prosperity of a competitive marketplace in the U.S. and overseas and to help our members and their customers achieve their business goals.CompTel holds three major conferences each year: the Annual Convention and Trade Expo in February, a Summer Business Conference, and the Fall Business Conference and Trade Show in October. In addition, CompTel holds issue-specific educational seminars twice each year to update its members on business, technology and policy developments. And our Committees are active in issues ranging from federal and state regulation to international marketing opportunities to new technologies. |

National Exchange Carrier Association (NECA) Formed in 1983 by the FCC as a not-for-profit membership corporation, NECA plays an important role in administering the FCC's access charge plan -- a plan that helps ensure that telephone service remains available and affordable in all parts of the country. Directly and through its subsidiaries, NECA also administers a number of other significant federal and state programs, each designed to keep the United States telecommunications system the most widely used in the world.Through its corporate family, NECA administers numerous nationwide programs. The Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) administers programs that provide support for telephone companies with inordinately high costs, and assistance for low-income subscribers by reducing or waiving fees necessary to get on the phone network and stay connected. USAC also administers a federal program of discounts to schools and libraries for their telecommunications needs. The interstate Telecommunications Relay Service (TRS) Fund is a program that helps speech and hearing impaired individuals use telecommunications services. North American Billing and Collection (NBANC) supports numbering administration for the U.S. telecommunications industry and other NANP member countries. Independent NECA Services (INS) administers billing and collection programs through which telcos receive compensation for billing long distance calls on behalf of interexchange carriers and operator service providers. In addition to these nationwide programs, NECA administers several state universal service programs and state energy funds. Telecommunications training, regulatory support and a wide variety of information and communications services are among the many important services NECA provides its member companies and the telecommunications industry. |

National Telephone Cooperative Association (NTCA) "The voice of rural telecommunications," NTCA is a non-profit association representing more than 500 small and rural telephone cooperatives and commercial companies. NTCA is a full-service association, offering a wide array of member services, including a highly effective government affairs program; expert legal and industry representation; a broad range of educational services; a comprehensive assortment of regular and special publications and public relations programs; and a well-rounded complement of national and regional meetings. |
