British Standards Institution (BSI) BSI is now the world's leading standards and quality services organisation. Formed in 1901 and incorporated under Royal Charter in 1929, BSI is the oldest national standards- making body in the world. Independent of government, industry and trade associations BSI is a non-profit distributing organisation. BSI is globally recognised as an independent and impartial body serving both the private and public sectors. BSI works with manufacturing and service industries, businesses and governments to facilitate the production of British, European and international standards. As well as facilitating the writing of British standards, BSI is one of the world's leading standards authorities representing UK interests across the full scope of European and international standards committees. |

European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) ETSI is a non-profit making organization whose mission is to produce the telecommunications standards that will be used for decades to come throughout Europe and beyond. Based in southern France, ETSI unites 773 members from 52 countries inside and outside Europe, and represents administrations, network operators, manufacturers, service providers, research bodies and users. ETSI produces voluntary standards intended to be practical rather than abstract. ETSI promotes world-wide standardization whenever possible, and its work programme is based on, and co-ordinated with, the activities of international standardization bodies, mainly the ITU-T and the ITU-R. |

Inter-American Telecommunications Commission (CITEL) An entity of the Organization of American States, CITEL's mission is to encourage and further the development of telecommunications in the Americas as a contribution to the overall development of the region. To obtain these objectives, CITEL works with its member countries' administrations in close collaboration with the private sector and coordinating with regional and international organizations. CITEL has three standing committees that focus on individual elements in the communications mix: Public Telecommunications Services, Broadcasting, and Radiocommunications. |

International Institute for Communication and Development (IICD) The IICD assists developing countries to utilise the opportunities offered by information and communication technologies (ICTs) to realise sustainable development. IICD uses a cross-sectoral approach, in which local entrepreneurs ('agents of change') come up with proposals for realistic ICT applications. In IICD's view local ownership and a broad social consensus form an essential basis for sustainable socio-economic development. Key concepts in implementing IICD's mission are: sustainable development, based on local ownership; capacity development; independent knowledge broker and advisor across different sectors; bringing together all stakeholders (public, private and not-for-profit); and improved human welfare through ICTs. |

Pacific Telecommunications Council (PTC) The PTC serves the communication world by providing a major annual conference, regional seminars, research activities, publishing the Pacific Telecommunications Review and a variety of other publications, and through various other services and activities. The PTC is an international, non-profit, non-governmental membership organization that brings together in a single forum both the providers and users of communication services, as well as policy-makers, technologists, lawyers, scientists and academics. PTC's members are found worldwide, and membership is open to all who share an interest in the development and beneficial use of telecommunications and related disciplines in the Pacific hemisphere. |
