Course Description

This course delves deep into the intricacies of this test, its importance, and how it can prevent potential hazards.
Understanding the "Live Dead Live" Test.

The "Live Dead Live" test is a crucial procedure outlined in the NFPA 70E 2024 Article 120.6. This process is essential for establishing and verifying an electrically safe work condition. The test involves using an adequately rated portable test instrument to test each phase conductor or circuit part at every point of work. The objective is to check for the absence of voltage. It's imperative to test each phase conductor or circuit part both phase-to-phase and phase-to-ground.

Before and after each test, it's crucial to ensure that the test instrument is operating satisfactorily. This verification is done on any known voltage source. The primary purpose of the "Live Dead Live" test is to ensure that the meter used is functioning correctly and fully understanding all safety and OSHA standards and regulations.

Module 3 Safe Work Practices

This module will state and explain the process of working on an electrical circuit
Material will include testing, and protective measures that must be in place prior to
working on any electrical circuit. The following is a list of some topics covered:
- De- energize
- Lock out tag out- Try
- Test
- Safety Grounds
- Purpose of grounding
- System Grounds
- Equipment Grounds
- Grounding requirements
- PPE
- Protective equipment
- Unsafe personal items and prohibited tools
- Approach distances

Module 4 Review Of specifications related to course: OSHA 1926.926

Module 5 Live Dead Testing Method

This section will state and explain the process of testing electrical circuits
and equipment with the Live Dead Live testing method.
- Review testing tools used in the industry.
( Please let us know what testers you use, as we will spend extra
time on you specific tools and needs if necessary)

The remainder of the course will bring everything together and we will
perform testing on lines and equipment on the needs of the operation
and equipment. We can place grounds on lines and equipment as needed.

- Digital meters
- Proximity testers
- Test sticks
- Hot sticks

Lab should have equipment and or cable that the technicians will be working on or around.
